In the sutra of Anguttara Nikaya, the Buddha taught His Disciples about five kinds of dwellers. Do you know which one is the best out of the five kinds?
Forest—the green lung of the earth—plays such a pivotal role in our planet. Forest makes a great contribution to the survival of animals as well as humans. It is not only the shelter of numerous species of animals but also of many people who are attracted to it.
Human beings enter the forest for particular purposes. In the sutra “Five kinds of forest dwellers”, the Buddha mentioned five kinds of people dwelling in the forest and distinguished every kind from each other. Their motives for choosing the forest as a place to live were also explained by the Buddha. Among these five kinds, the Buddha praised only one.
Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh – the Abbot of Ba Vang Pagoda had a Dharma talk on this sutra right in the forest where His Sangha are practising.
Let’s watch this video in which Thay Thich Truc Thai Minh discussed five kinds of forest dwellers and the kind praised by the Buddha.
